The Giants entered the Mumbai leg in fine form posting back-to-back wins in Hyderabad. While their was plenty of optimism, the task of having to face an unbeaten Dabang Delhi and home side U Mumba on consecutive days was always an uphill task.

Coach Manpreet stuck to the same side, meaning we played all 4 matches with an unchanged 7. While this tactic worked wonders against Delhi, we were sadly outplayed by a charged up Mumbai side.

Despite the contrasting results, all in all the Mumbai leg was a success for the Giants. The loss to U Mumba showed us where we need to improve, while the victory over Delhi was proof of our hard work and talent. Here are our top three takeaways from the land of Bollywood:

More G B is a diamond in the rough:

When the going got tough, More got the Giants going. In the game against Delhi, every time the dabangs fought their way back, it was More who took the game away, either with stunning tackles, or swift raid points. He amassed 4 tackle points and 5 raids points vs Delhi, our top performer on the night.

He was also our standout player from the starting 7 vs U Mumba, where he once again showed his all round utility. He ended as the top scoring Giant in the Mumbai leg.

Another successful debutant- Harmanjit Singh.

A promising raider, Harmanjit had to bide his time on the bench before getting an opportunity. When he finally got his chance though, he grabbed it by the horns. Coming on in the second half of the match vs U Mumba, Harmanjit still managed to become our top scorer, collecting 4 raid points in his short spell on the mat. His swift raids almost brought the Giants back into the game vs U Mumba.

He showed glimpses of great speed and technique, key attributes for any raider. After the likes of Sumit and Ankit, Harmanjit could be the next breakout star for the Giants.

We have a great coach who knows how to win:

In both matches of the Mumbai leg, we saw coach Manpreet make a couple of changes. Even though we lost to Mumba, the substitutes who came on played their part. His inspirational half time talk vs Delhi saw the team overcome a 3 point deficit at half time to go on to win by a 5 point margin. His advice during a timeout has also played a key role in the team being composed till the very end.

Even with Sachin Tanwar not being in the best of form, our team has played exceptionally well. That’s all down to our coach, who has entrusted our young stars to perform. With a new leg on the horizon, we hope to see more of the same in Patna.
