The 2017-18 edition of the Pro Kabaddi saw four new teams being added to the much-decorated tourney. Out of the four teams, the most prominent was the Gujarat Fortune Giants, who went on to become the runners-up of the season.

A large amount of the team’s success can be owed to coach Manpreet Singh, who has the capability to churn out the best from his players. This year, after the auctions, there were a few eyebrows raised as Fortune Giants let go off their 3 stalwarts, i.e. Sukesh Hegde, Fazel Atrachali and Abozar Mighani. When asked about his thoughts on this year’s squad, Manpreet Singh said, “The squad is young, and our main focus was to have players who are hungry to put their best foot forward. I only hope, they stay fit and there are no injuries. If you look at our squad the average age is 18 to 22 years and I know they will perform better than the last season.”

The huge amount of confidence of the coach comes from players like Sachin Tanwar, Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal, who were the surprise package in the 2017-18 edition. Sachin and Sunil were duly retained and Parvesh was bought back using the FBM card.

It will be interesting to see who will spring a surprise this year as the squad promises to take it up a notch this time around!
