Gujarat Giants go down to Bengaluru Bulls in Pro Kabaddi Season 8 eliminator

An all-round effort from Bengaluru Bulls ended Gujarat Giants’ five-match unbeaten streak to draw curtains on their Pro Kabaddi Season 8 campaign.

In a high-octane knockout fixture, Gujarat Giants succumbed to a 29-49 loss in the second eliminator at the Sheraton Grand, Whitefield in Bengaluru on Monday.

Gujarat Giants started the match in fine style by tackling Pawan Sehrawat in his very first raid. However, Chandran Ranjit’s points off successive raids helped Bengaluru Bulls gain an early lead. Gujarat’s top raider of the season, Rakesh Sungroya managed to return with points to reduce the deficit. However, a well-oiled Bengaluru Bulls managed to inflict an all-out on Gujarat Giants to soar the lead to 19-10.

Gujarat Giants made a spectacular comeback reducing Bengaluru Bulls to two men on either side of the half but a spectacular super tackle by defender Mahinder Singh on both instances enabled Bengaluru Bulls to negate the all-out and stretch the lead.

Gujarat Giants’ failed tackle on Bharat in the next raid put them on the brink of another all-out as Pawan Sehrawat exposed Gujarat’s nervous defence with timely raid points to help Bengaluru Bulls build on a massive 15-point lead.

With under 10 minutes of play left, Gujarat Giants gave their final shot to reduce the deficit and stage a comeback. However, Bengaluru Bulls’ were in no mood to slip up as their defence continued to mount pressure on Gujarat, who eventually succumbed to a 20-point loss.

The result ended Gujarat Giants' Pro Kabaddi Season 8 journey dashing their hopes of making it to their third final in four PKL seasons.
