Gujarat Giants go up against Patna Pirates in their ninth match of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 9 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Monday, October 31, 2022.

The Giants bounced back from the defeat against U Mumba with a convincing second half performance against Telugu Titans, culminating in a 30-19 victory. In a second half surge that saw the Giants dominate 21-7 on Saturday, Rakesh Sungroya, the team’s top raider this season, was once again a vital cog in the success.

Rakesh scored six raid points - five touch points and one bonus - while Sourav Gulia stepped up defensively, making six successful tackles, to once again be the best defender on the mat. Parteek Dahiya also matched Rakesh’s offensive tally against the Telugu Titans.

Gujarat Giants are currently sixth on the PKL Season 9 points table with 26 points, two points behind fourth placed Jaipur Pink Panthers. The success against the Titans was the Giants’ fourth win of the season to go with the three defeats and one tied match.

On the other hand, Patna Pirates are unbeaten in their last three games, winning twice. The Pirates beat U.P. Yoddhas 34-29, courtesy of Sachin Tanwar’s Super 10. While Sachin ended as the best raider for the Pirates with 11 points, Rohit Gulia also impressed with seven points - three touch points and four bonus points.

The recent performances have pushed the Patna Pirates to 10th on the PKL Season 9 points table with 18 points.
