Our Giants produced a spirited performance in our sixth match of PKL 12 but were edged out by Haryana Steelers 37-40 at the end of a nail-biting contest. It was a true neck-to-neck battle where we gave everything, but the evening ultimately didn’t belong to us.

The standout performer of the night was undoubtedly Rakesh Sungroya, who delivered yet another brilliant outing. The raider was unstoppable, scoring 14 raid points on his way to another Super 10.

In doing so, he also crossed a remarkable career milestone, completing 500 raid points in PKL. This achievement stood as one of the silver linings of the match and highlighted Rakesh’s stature as a star of the league.

Despite trailing 20-25 at half-time, the Giants showed resilience and refused to bow down. With just seven minutes left on the clock, we fought our way back to level terms at 33-33, raising hopes of a cracking comeback. However, the final few minutes swung in Haryana’s favour, as they managed to close out the match.

While the result was not in our favour, it was a determined effort throughout the 40 minutes. Every Giant on the mat played his part in pushing the contest down to the wire, proving that this team has the fight to take on any opposition.

Up next, a week-long break before we face Bengaluru Bulls on September 22. With ample time to recharge, the squad will be eager to iron out the fine margins and bounce back stronger.
