Two-time PKL finalists Gujarat Giants are ready to hog the limelight in the blockbuster Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 Player Auction scheduled to take place on May 31 and June 1 in Mumbai.

Under newly-appointed head coach Jaivir Sharma and assistant coach Varinder Singh Sandhu, the Giants will aim to rebuild a formidable squad in their quest for PKL glory.

“I look forward to developing a fearless and humble philosophy within the team, with the aim of making us one of the strongest contenders in the PKL,” head coach Jaivir said.

Ahead of the Pro Kabaddi Season 12 Player Auction, the Giants have retained raiders Himanshu Singh, Parteek Dahiya, Rakesh Sungroya, Shridhar Ananda Kadam and right corner Himanshu Jaglan.

Having made five retentions under Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP) and New Young Player (NYP) categories, the Giants will enter the PKL Season 12 auction with a heavy purse of INR 4.08 crore. All teams had a purse of INR 5 crore before the retentions.

More than 500 players will go under the hammer in the upcoming two-day auction.

Pardeep Narwal, Maninder Singh, Pawan Sehrawat, Arjun Deshwal, Ashu Malik, Mohammadreza Shadloui, Fazel Atrachali and Devank Dalal are some of the biggest kabaddi stars who will be up for grabs in the PKL Season 12 Player Auction.

Players available at the auction have been divided into four categories - A, B, C and D.

Category A players will have a base price of INR 30 lakh, while Category B players will come with a base price of INR 20 lakh.

Players from Categories C and D will feature a base price of INR 13 lakh and INR 9 lakh, respectively.

Each team will have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players in the squad. Additionally, every franchise can include a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 overseas players for the PKL Season 12.

One of the significant changes for the PKL Season 12 auction is the revised Final Bid Match (FBM) rule. The FBM Card rule allows teams to buy back their released players by matching the final auction bid price for the player concerned.

According to the revised FBM rule, teams have the option to retain a player for either one or two seasons at the time of exercising their FBM. Previously, the FBM rule allowed teams to retain a player for only one season.

The Giants will be eligible to use up to 3 FBMs in the upcoming player auction.
