Gujarat Giants play Dabang Delhi K.C. in match 81 of Pro Kabaddi Season 8 at the Sheraton Grand, Whitefield in Bengaluru on Saturday. 

Gujarat Giants won a 37-35 thriller against Tamil Thalaivas in their previous fixture last week. Mahendra Rajput starred with nine points in the match while Sunil Kumar scored a high 5.

“Trailing by six points in the final minute and then going on to win the match only proves our potential as a team,” coach Manpreet Singh reflected on his team’s outing against the Thalaivas. “I’m sure after this performance every team will be wary of the damage we can cause.”  

Meanwhile, Dabang Delhi K.C. lost their last match 42-25 against Puneri Paltan on Monday. All-rounder Vijay scored eight points while Sandeep Narwal was the top defender with three tackle points. 

Delhi come into the match on the back of two successive losses this PKL season and have been hit by injuries to lead raider Naveen Kumar and seasoned defender Joginder Narwal.

Their result in their recent match and an injury-hit Delhi will offer Gujarat an opportunity to climb up the PKL points table.

Gujarat Giants have won three out of 11 matches this season and are 11th in the PKL standings with 28 points. Meanwhile, Dabang Delhi K.C. have won seven from 13 matches and are second in the standings with 43 points. 

For Gujarat, Rakesh Sungroya has been the top raider this season with 84 raid points in 11 matches while Parvesh Bhainswal has been the best defender with 25 tackle points. 

Naveen Kumar has been the best raider for Delhi with 135 raid points across nine matches while Manjeet Chhillar has led the defensive outfit with 22 tackle points in 11 outings.

Gujarat Giants and Dabang Delhi K.C. have played each other nine times in the Pro Kabaddi League with Gujarat winning five of those matches. The two sides have been involved in a tie twice. 

The previous fixture between the two sides in Season 8 ended in a 24-24 tie.
