The Gujarat Giants are gearing up to face the defending Women’s Premier League (WPL) champions Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru on Sunday. If the tournament opener is anything to go by, fans can expect another thrilling encounter. The second season of WPL kicked off with a bang as Mumbai Indians clinched a thrilling victory over Delhi Capitals with a last-ball six. It was an exciting start to the tournament, setting the stage for more nail-biting matches to come.

Last season was not the best for us as we ended up at the bottom of the table. However, this is a fresh season, and we are optimistic about our chances. We have made some big personnel changes, with Michael Klinger joining as Head Coach and Beth Mooney fully fit and ready to resume her role as captain of the team. Our squad has been bolstered by some impressive signings from the WPL Auction, including Phoebe Litchfield, Kathryn Bryce, Veda Krishnamurthy, Priya Mishra, and Tarannum Pathan.

Although we faced a setback with upcoming star Kashvee Gautam being ruled out due to injury, Sayali Satghare has stepped in as her replacement. Additionally, Lea Tahuhu has come in for Lauren Cheatle. With players like Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt, and Ash Gardner in top form, we are confident of a strong start to the tournament.

Mumbai Indians got off to a flying start with a win against Delhi Capitals in the opening game. They will be pleased with the performances of players like Shabnim Ismail and Yastika Bhatia, who showcased their skills with the bat and ball. S Sajana, who smashed a last-ball six to win the game, added to their strong start, proving that they would not be easy to beat.

As we embark on this new season, we are filled with excitement and anticipation. While Mumbai Indians present a formidable challenge, we are determined to give our best and showcase our capabilities on the field. We believe in our team and are confident that we will rise to the occasion and deliver strong performances.
