Gujarat Giants Edge Delhi Capitals in Thriller

Gujarat Giants survived a late scare to beat Delhi Capitals by 3 runs in Vadodara, posting 174 for 9 before holding their nerve as DC finished on 171 for 8 chasing 175 on January 27 in WPL 2026. Sophie Devine's 4 for 37 and Rajeshwari Gayakwad's 3 for 20 starred in a tense defence that completed Gujarat's league double over DC.

Batting first, Gujarat reached 53 for 1 in the powerplay led by Beth Mooney's measured 58 off 46 balls. Anushka Sharma accelerated with 39 off 25, but DC's Kranti Gaud (4/31) and Sophie Ecclestone (2/22) pulled them back, with Gujarat adding crucial late runs to 174 for 9.

DC's chase started steadily, but Gujarat's spinners struck to reduce them to 100 for 6 after a middle-order collapse. Niki Prasad (47) and Sneh Rana mounted a thrilling counter, plundering 23 in the 17th over from Devine and 20 from Ashleigh Gardner, cutting the target to 9 off 6.

Devine returned for the final over, conceding 2 runs and taking 2 for 2 including Rana and Prasad to seal the win. Tanuja Kanwar's economical 4 overs for 26 supported the effort, lifting Gujarat to second place with 8 points.
