Gujarat Giants (GG) will lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in their sixth match of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 16.

The Sneh Rana-led Giants will be aiming to end their two-match losing streak as they look to turn things around against Delhi.

Despite producing an impressive bowling performance, the Giants succumbed to a 55-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians in their previous game at the same venue on Tuesday.

Having registered one win and four losses, the Giants are currently placed fourth in the WPL 2023 standings with two points. They need to win against the Capitals on Thursday in order to stay in contention for the playoffs.

For the Adani Sportsline-owned Giants, Harleen Deol has been the standout batter in the ongoing T20 tournament. The 24-year-old has scored 155 runs in five matches at an average of 31 and a strike rate of 133.62.

Among the bowlers, Ashleigh Gardner and Kim Garth have been leading wicket-takers for the Giants. While Australian off-spinner Gardner has bagged seven wickets in five matches, Irish-Australian pacer Garth has picked up six wickets in four games.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have won four of their five matches in the inaugural WPL so far.

The Meg Lanning-led side is currently placed second in the standings with eight points on the board.

The Capitals head into the game after securing a six-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.

For DC, captain Lanning and Shikha Pandey will be the players to watch out for. While Lanning has been the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 221 runs, Indian fast bowler Pandey has already scalped eight wickets.

Gujarat Giants lost to Delhi Capitals by 10 wickets in their first meeting in the WPL.

Under the tutelage of mentor Mithali Raj and head coach Rachael Haynes, the Giants will aim to bring their A-game in their must-win clash against the Capitals on Thursday.
