A Closely-fought Half

The Giants went into their clash against Jaipur Pink Panthers with one change, Rohit Gulia was brought in place of Ajay Kumar. The all-rounder took the first raid and brought home our first point of the game. In our very next raid, Sachin Tanwar’s presence of mind was seen on display as he earned one point and grabbed another cheeky touch on his way back to the mid-line. Adding another defensive point to our tally pretty quickly, we were off to a good start.

The Pink Panthers quickly made a comeback with a Super Tackle and our lead was cut short. Just when the Pink Panthers took the lead, Ruturaj answered back with a Super Tackle of his own to restore our lead. Within next few minutes, we were back to a 4-point lead. In a do-or-die raid for the Pink Panthers, Sachin Vittala made an excellent ankle hold to put even more pressure on them.

Our defenders were on their toes, pouncing on the Jaipur raiders at every opportunity. It was a low scoring half, but one where the lead kept see-sawing. Nevertheless, we went into the break with a 1-point lead.

Sunil Wins the Battle of the Captains

Rohit Gulia started the second half with a smart escape. With three defenders on the court, Gulia got the touch on one of them and when the other defenders came to pounce, he ran right in between them to make an excellent escape from right under their noses.

With only one player left on the court, the Pink Panthers surrendered the all-out as we consolidated our position in the game. As we were nearing an all-out our young captain, Sunil Kumar made a timely Super Tackle on his counterpart Anup Kumar. With that massive effort, he registered his second High 5 as captain.

A flurry of points followed, and the Giants were stamping their authority on the game. Slowly, the match was getting out of Jaipur’s hands.  With 4 minutes on the clock, we held a considerable lead of 9 points.

Sunil Kumar topped our scoring charts, picking up a scarcely believable 8 tackle points. What a giant-hearted effort it was from our skipper!

In the end, it was a dominating performance as we came out with an outstanding 11-point win to make it back-to-back-to-back-to-back wins!

We sure know how to keep our winning ways going.
